Located in Nassau, the zoo is small. The wildlife is exotic and various. While it is not the best zoo there is, nor does it offer its inhabitants the most luxurious living conditions, it is certainly a great place to peacefully spend a half a day. The parrots are the most impressive and have alot of "personality"!
Atlantis Resort and Casino
Located on Paradise Island, this is the best attraction (aside from the beaches) in the Bahamas. That is because the aquarium at the casino is one of the largest in the world. In 2000, the cost was $30 for a day's admittance. The aquarium begins on the lower floor of the casino and intertwines throughout the resort, offering species of inumerous amounts. The lost island of Atlantis theme is decorated by numerous different tanks offering all species from sharks (of every type), to piranhas and Manta rays.

Powerboat Adventures
Powerboat Adventures is alos located in Nassau. A little more pricey (under $200 per) they offer a days worth of fun activities well worth the price. At 7am they come to pick you up at your hotel or whever you are staying. After you complete the administrative stuff, you are loaded into one of 2 4-engine (250HP each) powerboats and whisked off (40 miles) to the northern islands of the Exuma island chain. The first stop i "lizard island". The you continue, racing through islands to the final destination, where you are served an all you can eat buffet of meats and seafood and an open bar. Afterwards, you can feed the stingrays...and finally the sharks come (into water that is as shallow as 2 feet!). They do the feeding for that! Later there is snorkeling and an island hike. Or, if you rather, you can lay on the isolated beaches the whole day. We highly recommend this tour to everyone! Here is the website:
Georgetown is at the southern edge of the 70 mile Exuma Island Chain.
The beaches at February Point are pristine, as well as the accommodations. The restaurant at the beach shown above serves excellent food. In Georgetown, you can go to one of 2 bars: The 2 Turtles or the Peace and Love Inn. It is a small town, but refreshing and peaceful. The beaches are isolated an beautiful: a great place for couples. SCUBA diving in the Bahamas, and especially in Georgetown) offers a unique opportunity to dive what is called a "blue hole": deep holes in the shallow ocean floor that have undercurrents bringing in exotic carribean sea life. It is a rare dive and should be guided by someone with experience diving these holes.
Below are pictures from the snorkeling from the Powerboat Adventures. Snorkeling is equally as enjoyable as SCUBA in the Bahamas
